S&P 500 Hits Record $69 Trillion Market Cap as AI Boom Fuels Rally
The S&P 500 has breached the $69 trillion market capitalization threshold for the first time, climbing 11% over the past six months. Artificial intelligence emerges as the dominant catalyst, with chipmakers like Nvidia, AMD, and Marvell becoming premium investments. Micron stands out with a 262% surge this year, now commanding a $1.17 trillion valuation.
Market concentration around AI has reached historic levels. "We haven't seen the market this focused on a single theme in 150 years," observes Jim Bianco of Bianco Research. The spending boom spans AI infrastructure, software, and power-intensive utilities, with Big Tech pouring billions into competitive positioning.
